Sounds like a plan!
I like having Vinyl acting silly and unconventionally - hell, it's where half the humour comes from in the first place - but I worry that it'll make her look TOO dumb, y'know? Like, if she's putting her and Octavia into danger because she's not listening to Octavia or something, doesn't that make her unsympathetic? I generally try to write her as having at least some point to her arguments, but there are times when it becomes really hard to justify why she isn't listening to Octavia...and then there's also the times when she's written as being smart, like in
Vinyl and Octavia Machete Their Way Through the Jungle, which just causes further issues...My headcanon is that she is fairly smart and often acts dumb to try and get Octavia to laugh and smile, but then when she's putting them in danger, how does that work? I also need to make sure that when Vinyl's being silly, that Octavia isn't too stern or she'll just look like she has no sense of humour, but she can't just go along with everything Vinyl does otherwise it'll come across as out-of-character...urgh, characterisation is hard.
I was intending for the "idiot" moment to be like, a badass one, if you know what I mean? Like, "You can't stop me! And let me prove it!" <Proceeds to prove it>. Sounds like you enjoyed it, which is always a plus.
It's very interesting with regards to who the villain was; I've had a lot of people tell me that they suspected Minister von Doom because he was so overt in his actions, but since he always had an excuse and he was SO obvious, I'm actually surprised that more people didn't suspect Minister Peace by virtue of her appearing more innocent. As it is, I'm pleased with the way it played out, and I feel like there was just the right amount of assassination attempts and whatnot involved in the whole thing. (If that chapter was any longer I think I would have screamed).
I liked the ending, but I wouldn't blame many people if they thought it was too dumb or a little bit too on-the-nose, y'know? That being said, I got the whole "all washed up" thing from
this, which my friends had shown me a few days earlier. I'll admit that I laughed hard enough and liked it enough that when I needed to find a way to end the chapter, I thought, "yep, that'll do!" Although good point on the Duel Destiny thing, I had forgotten about that. I guess Vinyl's trying to be genre savvy over time?
I'll try and contact you as soon as I put out the next chapter, yes? If you don't find that too annoying.
Also, I'm gonna follow you on Tumblr, because I do so like your art.
Hope you're doing well!
